City Council Nominating Petitions

Nominating petitions are now available for Council member seats in wards 1-4 for the November 3, 2020 general election. Please contact the city clerk's office to arrange pick up or mailing options for petitions, affidavit of filing and committee forms. Petitions will require at least 25 signatures but no more than 50. Candidate must be a qualified elector in the city and be a resident for three (3) years as well as residing in the ward for at least six (6) months prior to the date of the election. (sec.5-1)

Deadline to return petitions and forms is Tuesday, April 21, 2020 by 4:00p.m. (*deadline may be subject to change under state orders)

UPDATE: A federal court issued an order on April 20, 2020 to changes to the April 21 filing deadline and rules.

The filing deadline has been extended to May 8, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

Reduces the signature requirement by 50 percent and candidates can collect signature images and submit petition sheets electronically.
