Code Enforcement and Inspections
The code enforcement office is a subsection of the planning and assessing department. This office is responsible for the enforcement of the Property Maintenance Code adopted by the City of Hillsdale. Common citizen complaints received by our office include:
- Dilapidated structures
- Excessive accumulation of trash and debris within a property
- Insufficient maintenance of basic living conditions
- Insufficient maintenance of the exterior of structure or property
- Snow accumulation on sidewalks
- Improper placement of signage, including Yard Sale signs
- Tall grass and weeds
- Brush and grass clippings placed within the public Right of Way
- Refrigerators stored on the exterior of the structure
- Similar property maintenance-related issues
