2020 Census

2020 census

For every uncounted person, Michigan will lose $1,800 per person per year for 10 years. That’s $18,000 per person…the last time we had a Census, Hillsdale County had a $22 MILLION LOSS because only 74% participated. We cannot afford to lose that much again. We need 100% of Hillsdale County participating!

When we lose out on funds, it gets taken from:
• Education
o Pell Grant
o Special education programs
o Head Start
o Title 1
o IDEA grants
• Food Programs
o WIC
o Bridge Card
o SNAP
o National School Lunch Program
• Economic Development
o Public transportation and roads
o Public Water Systems Supervision Program
o Highway planning
o Community development grants
• Social Services
o Emergency services
o Child welfare funding
o Foster care
o Child Care and Development Fund
• Housing
o Shelters
o Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments Program
o Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
• Public Health
o Medicaid
o Medicare
o MIChild
o Medi-Cal
o CHIP
o Medical Assistance Program
• Political/Governmental Representation
o Number of seats in US House of Representatives
o Number of electoral votes
o Redistricting

So, please BE COUNTED and look for the Census invitation in the mail in March 2020 with instructions on how to respond online, in the mail or on the phone.
