General Description: 

Perform maintenance tasks involving, but not limited to, city streets, storm water, traffic, parks, cemeteries, forestry, building & grounds, motor vehicle pool, and right of ways. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

These include but are not limited to the following;

Performs maintenance and repair operations at various City owned facilities

Maintains and repairs streets

Paints traffic lines

Installs and maintains traffic signs and other traffic control devices

Repairs and maintains catch basins and storm water lines

Picks up brush and other debris along roadsides, parks, cemeteries, and other city locations

Rakes leaves and performs other grounds maintenance tasks

Performs snow and ice control operations on streets, sidewalks, and other city locations

Plants trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plant material

Digs graves at City owned/maintained cemeteries

Install and repair sidewalks, curbs, and foundations

Operate various vehicles and equipment required to perform job assignments

Keeping written records on daily activities

Reporting Relationship and Supervision Received:

General Labor reports to the Foreman of Public Services, (or the Crew Leader).  General Labor will be instructed in operation of various pieces of equipment by Public Services Department personnel and, after a suitable training period, shall be expected to operate all equipment that is assigned to that job classification.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).   Applicant shall have a valid Class B CDL with an Air Brake Endorsement.  Applicant must have a good attendance record, demonstrate the ability and desire to learn the necessary skills within the job classification, have no physical impairment that would affect the performance of the job, and be available to work overtime and different shifts.  Capabilities shall include, but not be limited to, operating various types of equipment, being able to follow instructions, and being willing and able to make decisions regarding job assignment details.

Compensation:

Starting pay is $16.88 per hour
