Fields of Dreams
A grassroots development opened to the public in 1998, Fields of Dreams is a sports complex consisting of 3 baseball diamonds (one with night lighting), 2 soccer fields, concession stand and restrooms, pavilion, and a playground. The complex was built with a vision to provide adequate playing fields for the community's youth. This vision, shared by members of the Fields of Dreams Committee, industry, local businesses, and an involved community, came to fruition in May, 1998. Over the last 15 years the vision has been kept alive as the complex has continued to grow. This has been made possible through grants from the Hillsdale Community Foundation, annual tournaments, memorials, contributions from local residents and business owners, and local volunteers. Collegiate grade dugouts for each field, bleachers, benches, lighted flag pole, trees, parking lot improvements, and a community mural on the concession stand care of the Ladies Beautification League. are the result of these continued efforts.
Fields of Dreams is home to Hillsdale summer baseball, spring and fall soccer, and football. Rarely is there an evening that the fields are not bursting with activity from April through October. Aside from summer baseball/softball and T-ball/Coach Pitch league play, Hillsdale Recreation holds its Fields of Dreams Annual Classic Baseball Tournaments hosting teams throughout Michigan and its neighboring states. All proceeds are for continued improvements at the fields.
Soccer has an ever increasing presence at Fields of Dreams. The complex serves as "home" field to both Hillsdale High School and Hillsdale Soccer Club.
