The City’s Transfer Station Is Closed Until October. Here’s Where You Can Take Your Trash In the Meantime

The Modern Waste Systems/City of Hillsdale Transfer Station located at 425 W. Carleton Rd., Hillsdale, is currently closed to the public while a new building is under construction at the facility. The City anticipates the facility reopening in early October.

While construction is ongoing, City residents cannot dispose of their waste streams at the Transfer Station and will need to utilize another appropriate facility, or, sign up for curbside trash and recyclables collection service. How To Sign Up for Curbside Trash and Recyclables Collection

The City has an active contract with Modern Waste Systems, Inc. to provide curbside trash and recyclables collection for residents who choose to opt-in to the service.

Residents currently pay $10.50 per month for weekly trash collection and $3.50 per month for bi-weekly recycling services for a total of $14.00 per month. Both services use 96-gallon carts that residents are responsible for placing near the curb the night before designated pickup days.
