Special Brush Collection to Begin Wednesday, Aug. 31

The City of Hillsdale’s Department of Public Services (DPS) will perform a one-time citywide brush collection to aid residents in cleaning up from Monday’s storm.

City residents should place any brush they want collected and disposed of near the curb. Beginning, Wednesday, Aug. 31, DPS crews will start picking up the items residents have placed out for collection.

Once crews have been to a property, they will not make a return trip, so any items not placed out for collection near the curb when crews pass through the area will not be collected. There will be no exceptions.

Please keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • Items should be less than eight inches (8”) in diameter and less than eight feet (8’) in length.
  • Please do not pile brush around fire hydrants or push it into the street or sidewalk. Do not place brush in alleys, crews will not collect there.
  • We ask that you do not pile brush within 30 feet of an intersection and remain mindful of pile height to maintain clear sight lines for the safety of vehicles and pedestrians.
  • This special brush collection is for residential properties only. It is not for commercial or industrial properties, or to help clear out wooded lots.

Additionally, DPS maintains a brush disposal site on Waterworks Avenue which is open to City of Hillsdale residents only Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for residential brush drop off. Residents will need to check in at the DPS Office upon arrival as the gate is locked.
