February 23, 2023 - 7:00AM Power Outage Update

BPU crews will resume efforts to restore power to our customers this morning. Crews worked late into the night on Wednesday, but dangerous weather conditions and continuous falling trees and tree limbs were a major setback to our efforts.

Currently, approximately 75% of our transmission lines are offline, which is causing a near-total blackout in the City of Hillsdale and the BPU's outlying service areas.

Due to the extensive nature of the damage, BPU has requested mutual aid. Five additional linemen and two trucks from Bryan, Ohio are en route and are expected to arrive in Hillsdale before 8:00 a.m. They will assist our crews in assessing the damage and making the necessary repairs.

Until our crews are able to assess the new damage sustained in the early morning hours and get our transmission lines operational again, it is not possible to provide any restoration estimates.
