Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities 2021 Best Decorated Home & Business Contest
Back by popular demand, the Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities is excited to once again sponsor a Best Decorated Home & Business Contest this holiday season!
The first, second and third place finishers each of the two categories, "Best Decorated Home" and "Best Decorated Business," will recieve a credit applied to their utility bill. The prize amounts are as follows:
- 1st place (winner) - $100
- 2nd place - $75
- 3rd place - $50
Participation is open to all current BPU electric customers. You do not have to live within city limits to participate, but to be eligible to compete for the prizes your BPU account must be paid to date and in good standing. One entry per customer only.
Here's how it works:
Decorate your home or business. Be creative in the use of holiday lights and appropriate seasonal decorations. We want to see your holiday spirit!
Submit one (1) photo of your home or business by 11:59 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2021. Send your photo to marketing@hillsdalebpu.com with "BPU Best Decorated Contest" in the subject line. Don't forget to include the address of the home or business in your email, along with a phone number we can use to contact you should you win.
Photos will be uploaded to the BPU's Facebook page by Sunday, Dec. 12, and community voting will run for one week, ending at 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19. The photos in each category with the most total reactions (likes, hearts, etc...) will win, and the photos with the second-most and third-most reactions will place accordingly.
Contest winners will be announced on Monday, Dec. 20, and BPU staff will deliver 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place yard signs to the winning homes and businesses that week. Credits will be applied to the winners' next utility bills.
There will also be a community viewing night on Wednesday, Dec. 15. We encourage participating residents and business owners to have all of their lights turned on from 6-9 p.m. that day so community members can walk or drive around the city to view all of the displays.
