Project Restoration Update—Elm Court
8/31/21 Update: Concrete curb was placed and finished last Friday. This week, project contractors are prepping the disturbed areas for patches, which will take until Wednesday, Sept. 1. We are currently anticipating paving to occur on Wednesday afternoon, with restorations to continue Thursday and Friday. All of this work requires us to maintain the closure and detour of South Howell Street. Once work is completed the detour will be removed.
City contractors are returning to Elm Court on Thursday, Aug. 26, to start the final preparations for the restoration of the concrete and asphalt in the disturbed areas of Elm Court and South Howell Street.
In order to allow the contractor physical access to the site and ensure worker safety, South Howell Street between East Sharp Street and East Hallett Street will be temporarily closed to thru traffic and detoured while work is ongoing. Additionally, there will be no parking allowed on Elm Court until Sept. 3, or, until final asphalt is placed.
Final prepping of asphalt areas for paving will begin the week of Aug. 30. At this time, we do not have a specific date for when paving will take place, but it is expected that it will be completed by the middle of next week, potentially Sept. 1 or 2.
As with most projects, this schedule is subject to change if we get a rain event. We will provide additional updates should the timeline change.
