Water Outage/Boil Water Advisory

Boil Water Advisory Image

UPDATE: As of 6:30 p.m. Thursday, 6/3/21, the boil water notice has been lifted. At this time there are no active boil water notices anywhere in the city.

On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, the BPU will replace two water valves, one on Lumbard Street and one on Hillcrest Drive. This will require turning off the water in the main supplying the following residences:

  • 101-109 Lumbard Street
  • All of Orchard Ridge Parkway
  • 294-320 River Street
  • 2 and 4 Crescent Court
  • All of Hillcrest Drive
  • All of Arbor Court
  • North Wolcott Street north of State Street

This drop in pressure requires a boil water notice for the above addresses after the valves have been replaced and the water turned back on. It will be in effect until two consecutive 24-hour tests come back clear.

During a boil water notice, water for consumption or cooking should be boiled for at least 15 minutes. Bathing and washing clothes and dishes should not cause any problems.

The boil water notice will be in effect for as little as 48 hours after the first water sample is taken but may take longer. Flushing a hose bib outside your home after flow is reestablished, till clear, will aid in the clearing of your household lines.

We will notify you when the water is safe to consume.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. You can contact the BPU at 437-6412 with any questions.
